For the 2nd day, we checked out the hotel and continued our journey to Alishan (阿里山). Alishan is
located at Chiayi District (嘉義縣). Before we went to Chiayi District by train from Kaohsiung Train
Station, we settle our first meal of the day at 舜鈺商務旅館 with free coupon during check
in. It consists of a cup of Milo, 2 sets of ham on slice bread and fried
egg per person.
After that, we took 8.27am 莒光号 railway train from Kaohsiung Train Station (高雄火車站) to Chiayi Train Station (嘉義火車站) and arrived at 10.25am. Train ticket cost us NT$189 per person.
After we reached Chiayi Train Station, the owner of 阿里山欣欣民宿 fetched us from Chiayi Train Station to their homestay. We bought the package which cost us NT$3000 per person included:
i.)Transportation:
嘉義火车站=>天長地久=>奮起湖=>阿里山=>玉山景點(鹿林神木,夫妻樹,等等景點)=>梅子酒庄=>埔里住宿(金山大饭店) =>日月潭
ii.) Our Homestay (阿里山欣欣民宿)
iii.)園區門票=>阿里山園區內的接送2次據點(電話通知即可)
iv.)玉山看日出=早餐吃到飽(中式餐點)
It was convenient and save time if you bought the packages (Recommended).

天长地久桥 & 童子
Unfortunately, 天長橋 was closed because it was dangerous. Anyway, we still can walk through one of the suspension bridge which was 地久橋.

We passed by the temple (龍隱寺). It's just located nearby 天長地久橋.
奮起湖
We continued our journey to Fenqihu (奮起湖) at about 12.30pm. Fenqihu is a small town along the forest railway.
Petrol station of Fenqihu..Here don't have Shell, Petronas, BHP, Esso Mobil..
The railway station stopped working because accident happened last week where the train slipped out from railway.

There are several old street, wooden houses selling souvenir and foods.

Fenqihu
is well known for the local box lunches (奮起湖便當). Each lunch box was sold NT$110 per person
with youth card (np NT$120) which consists of rice, vegetables,
chicken and pork. We had our lunch at 阿良鐵支路便當, 50 meter down from
old street.
Arrow represents the location of Fenqihu (奮起湖) and It looks quite small right?!… Actually Fenqihu (奮起湖) is not a lake but its shape look like lake. Therefore, they called it as “hu (湖)”.
At about 2.30pm, we continued headed to Alishan National Forest Recreation Area.

A lot of mountain can be seen along the way to Alishan. The scenery was superb in the mountains
Oop..Forget to introduce…The middle one is Zing Yi’s brother. He was study at Chaiyi.

The road and bridge undergo construction to make curve road to become more straighter and also to prevent landslide. We were waiting here about 45 minutes to pass through it.
Vehicle used to fetch us wherever we went from Chiayi Train Station until Sun Moon Lake.

We reached Alishan National Forest Recreation Area (阿里山國家森林游樂區)
entrance. We didn’t need to buy ticket for entrance because it was
already including in our package. Normally, one person need to pay
NT$100 with the youth card (np NT$150). We directly went to our homestay
(欣欣民宿) to check in. After that, we went to post office of Alishan to buy
stamps to posted Alishan card to our “sincerely”
coursemates, friends and family.

Let’s start our journey to Alishan Natinaonal Forest Recreation Area.
[象 鼻木] it’s actually the stump of an old cypress tree. You will notice that it resembles an elephant head, with eyes and big trunk in the right places.
[三 代木] Big chunky roots lying on the ground are the real roots of the first generation tree. Old hollowed shape is second generation tree. Third generation tree is at its prime with profuse growth.

Behind us was about 3000 years old <fall down> giant cypress tree. The journey took us about one hour walked from the beginning until the end.

At
about 7.30pm, we walked around Alishan center area and finally
stopped at this tea shop to buy tea. The owner of this shop told us
about manufacturing of Alishan tea, how to differentiate good tea and
also served Alishan tea for us.
At night, temperature of Alishan was getting cold. It was about 13 degree C and sea level about 2170 m.
7-11
After
a few hours walked at Alishan center and recreation area, we visited
7-11 for our dinner..泡面！泡面！泡面！Sitting outside of 7-11 having our dinner
in 13 degree C cold weather. Syok! Because of the cold weather at night,
the homestay lady boss borrowed us thick jumper jackets to get warm^^

We bought some postcard and it undergoes several processed: written, stamped, copped and finally sent the postcard to our families, friends and coursemates.
